Once she’s accepted the call to a sensuous motherhood and has embraced her masculine energy, the mother is ready to flow into her full femininity.

It’s hostile at high tide, docile at low tide — incessantly flowing in and out, over and under, around and through rock and crevice without discretion. The feminine fears nothing for she trusts everything. The masculine provides a reliable container, and she surrenders herself fully to his strong embrace. This is the stuff of romance novels!

The union of the masculine and feminine principle has long captivated human consciousness. When this fascination is projected outward the mother yearns for her romantic partner to complete her. When focused inward she learns to complete herself, and her romantic partner eventually mirrors her self-focused adoration and devotion.

She learns to cherish, protect, and provide for herself. She learns to get her needs met without putting the responsibility on anyone or anything outside herself. She learns to take full responsibility for herself and the life she's creating without guilt, shame, blame, resentment or regret. She learns to walk the path of codependence to transcendence. She learns to give herself the compassion and understanding she deserves. She gets to know, love and trust her authentic self and becomes whole and sovereign in her own right, nothing missing.

The ancients referred to this inner union as the hieros gamos — the hero’s game or sacred marriage — the sacred alchemical mystery of enlightenment. It’s the culmination of a life well-lived and the source of a joyously sensuous motherhood.
